Recruitment for Part-time Lecturers 

YMCA College of Careers is a post-secondary institute sponsored by the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong. Upholding the motto of “Ever-learning, Ever-growing” for 30 years, the College has offered courses ranging from short courses to Higher Diploma programmes in the areas of Design and Art, Hospitality Management, and Social Science and Recreation. We are now looking for energetic and self-initiative professionals to teach ANY of the following areas:

(i) Arts Administration/ Creative Industries Management

(ii) Chinese Painting/ Ink Painting

(iii) Communication Design

(iv) Design Management

(v) Drawing and Painting

(vi) Expressive Arts Therapy

(vii) Graphic Design

(viii) Illustration Design

(ix) Jewellery Drawing and Rendering

(x) Jewellery Design/ Gemmology

(xi) Nagomi Pastel Art

(xii) Visual Arts

Required Skillsets:

· For (i) & (xii) – Possess strong knowledge and understanding of creative industries, the arts scene and related business management principles, preferably with arts administrative experience

· For (ii), (v) & (xii) – Experienced in teaching Chinese and Western art with different drawing and painting media

· For (iii), (vii) & (viii) – Proficient in both traditional and digital design methods, have excellent communication and presentation skills, with strong understanding of design theories, history, and current trends; experienced in teaching with Adobe softwares e.g. Adobe After Effects, AI, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

· For (iv) – Possess strong knowledge in design thinking, strategy and systems thinking and understanding of social equity and sustainability

· For (vi) – A relevant professional qualification in this area; demonstrate competence in various art forms and relevant experience working with diverse populations

· For (ix) & (x) – Possess strong knowledge and understanding of jewellery design process, history, and current trends; experienced in teaching practical skills with

various rendering medium; a relevant professional gemmology qualification for (x)

· For (xi) – A relevant professional qualification in this area; experienced in teaching different Nagomi Art styles using pastel

Required Qualification and Experience:

· Bachelor degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (possession of a post-degree qualification will be an advantage), OR professional qualification(s) specified above

· At least 2 years’ teaching experience and/or relevant work experience in related discipline(s)

· Applicants who do not have the required qualification but have relevant/substantial experience in the above areas would also be considered

Responsibilities:

· Perform teaching duties

· Responsible for course planning and curriculum development in related subject area(s)

· Students’ assessment marking (if any)

· Keep abreast of market trends and share valuable insights with students

Working Hours:

· Weekday Evenings and/or Weekends
