My parents supported me to join the YM Career 360 project as it contained both of the components of study and job employment.  Also, it provided a supportive environment for me to earn a diploma qualification in QF level 3 and to explore my potential in the different areas of the hospitality industry.

The YM Career 360 project taught me both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of the hospitality industry.  I decided to enrol in the 2-year project as it offered lots of opportunities for gaining valuable work experience in the industry.

At YMCA College of Careers, I have understood that designers were not the ones who are only good at drawing but the ones who had a strong passion towards creativity and aesthetic. As one of the awardees of the Reaching Out Award (ROA) of the Self-financing Post-secondary Scholarship Scheme (SPSS) 2015/16, I gained a wonderful international experience by interacting with local professional artists during a 5-day exchange tour in Shanghai.

Being a graphic designer is one of my career goals. However, I do not have a chance to study visual art and design before admitting to the Higher Diploma in Design (Visual Art and Design) programme. The curricular and syllabi of the programme are so well-designed that I am able to learn those design concepts easily. Besides, the professional instructors teach us how to apply those design techniques, such as drawing techniques, illustration techniques, typography, multi-media, and 3D techniques, in a detailed way.

Also, instructors always encourage design and art students to participate in the open competition. In 2015, I was encouraged to participate in the 『2015 Unique Macau』 Postcard Design Competition from Flugent Cultural & Creative Co. Ltd. It was a very valuable opportunity for me to apply design knowledge and skills practically. Over 2,820 designs from all categories of the competition, my postcard design won the Silver Award.

Through design and art, the YMCA College of Careers molds me into a better person with greater confidence.

YMCA College of Careers has been dedicating great efforts in interacting with the hotel industry practitioners. During the 6-month Industrial Placement, I was mainly responsible for the front office operations of the Sheraton Hong Kong Hotel & Towers. The Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management programme helps me to develop a future career in the global hospitality industry.

The Higher Diploma in Hospitality Management (Travel and Tourism) programme not only offers the basic knowledge of tourism and event management, but also allows us to learn more through industrial placement, site visits, guest lectures and mentorship programme.  Participating in a 6-month industrial placement in Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, it enabled me to understand and developed my career goal in the tourism industry.

The enthusiastic and professional instructors teach us not only knowledge and skills but also help us to cultivate our goals and future prospects. Studying at the College serves as a milestone relocating myself with my interest and facilitates my personal growth.

I am working at Hong Kong Aviation Ground Services Limited (HAGSL) as a Customer Services Officer.

The two years of study at YMCA College of Careers was absolutely extraordinary and fruitful. The College gave me a supportive environment to learn and explore my potential in the different areas of the front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, marketing, management and accounting.

In addition, I was also given an opportunity to conduct a 9-month industrial placement at the Langham, Hong Kong. Having an opportunity to work in one of the largest chain hotels, this eventually became a showcase to plan for my career development in the future.

Following the completion of the Higher Diploma programme at YMCA, I continued my study and graduated from the Bachelor of Business (Hotel Management) programme at the Griffith University of Australia. After my graduation, I started my career as a customer service agent in Melco Crown Entertainment Limited, Macau.
